New details in Botany kidnapping, two women accused of abducting victim in her own car

More details have emerged about an alleged kidnapping outside a busy East Auckland shopping centre.

Two women, aged 20 and 32, are accused of abducting the victim in her own vehicle before robbing and injuring her on March 31.

The accused women now face charges of kidnapping, robbery and injuring with intent to injure.

The offences carry a maximum penalty of 14 years’ imprisonment if they are convicted.

One woman is on bail, and another is in custody.

Court documents show the pair allegedly stole $2000 and a pair of New Balance shoes during the incident on Chapel Rd in Botany.

The victim was allegedly kidnapped in her own vehicle outside a shopping centre, Counties Manukau East CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Dean Batey said.

Charge sheets show the women appeared in Manukau District Court on Saturday. It’s understood both have name suppression pending their next appearance on April 10.
