Man arrested after alleged kidnapping in Whangarei.
A Whangarei man was forced to jump from a moving car after he was allegedly kidnapped then assaulted.
Police confirmed the man suffered serious injuries and needed treatment at Whangarei Hospital.
Detective Senior Sergeant Dene Begbie said a 28-year-old man was in his vehicle outside a property in Lichfield Street,Raumanga, about 2pm yesterday.
Four people approached the vehicle, one allegedly armed with a knife.
Mr Begbie said the group have then ordered the man to get into the front passengers seat before driving off.
Police allege the man was assaulted in the vehicle number of times. He managed to jump out of the moving vehicle at Otaika Valley Rd. He was helped by a member of the public who drove him to Whangarei Police station to report the incident.
The man was taken to Whangarei Hospital for treatment.
The vehicle was found by police about a kilometre north of Warkworth at 4.30pm.
A 28-year-old male, and three females, aged 22, 19 and 15 have all been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, kidnapping, theft and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle.
They will all appear in the Whangarei District Court except for the 15-year-old who will appear in the Youth Court.
Police are now appealing for sightings of a black 2001 BMW sedan between 2 and 4.30pm south of Whangarei on State Highway 1 and including Loop Road and Otaika Valley Road.
