Liquor store and dairy robbed in Auckland

A wine shop in Mt Roskill and a dairy in Birkdale have been robbed by armed offenders in separate incidents this evening.

Police said the attendant at the Birkdale Superette was robbed at knifepoint just past 6pm.

The offender threatened the attendant with the knife before taking money and cigarettes.

He then fled in a vehicle toward Beachhaven Rd, a police spokeswoman said.

The robber was described as 6ft and wearing a black cap.

Police are examining the scene and speaking with witnesses. They want to hear from anyone who was in the area and may have information which could help with the investigation.

At 6.50pm police were called to a second robbery at Hillsborough Wine and Spirits on Hillsborough Rd in Mt Roskill.

Two males with their faces covered entered the shop armed with a wooden stick and stole money, the spokeswoman said. Both escaped on foot.
