A woman guilty of cannabis related charges has been given another last chance to find a suitable address for a potential sentence of home detention.
Daktory Social Club member Sarah Gwenneth Gillgren was bailed for the third time instead of being sentenced in the Whangarei District Court this week.Gillgrenand Brian Thomas Borland were found guilty by a jury in October, and while Borland was sentenced to four years and nine months' jail, Gillgren's sentencing was adjourned.
Both were charged after a raid by police at the Daktory club premises in the Port Rd industrial area in January this year.
Gillgren was found guilty on charges of possession of cannabis oil for supply and supplying cannabis oil. The jury returned a majority verdict on the charge of supplying cannabis oil for Gillgren. She had already pleaded guilty to one charge of cultivating cannabis and another of selling cannabis before the start of their trial.
At an appearance earlier this month Judge Duncan Harvey said Gillgren had to find a suitable home detention address or she would go to jail.
However, when the 28-year-old appeared in court again on Wednesday Judge Harvey said while he had made it "crystal clear" sentencing would happen, there were documents he had read that had caused him some concern.
Judge Harvey gave Gillgren bail so a suitable address for home detention could be checked.
The other factors were he was more familiar with Gillgren's medical condition, her mother was in court and was clearly supportive, and if Gillgren was sent to jail it would take too long for a home detention application to be considered due to Christmas when the judicial system took a break.
Her lawyer, Arthur Fairley, said he would provide the court with two addresses to be checked. Gillgren will reappear again on February 9 for sentencing.
