The Wairarapa senior women's cricket team will play two matches at the annual Central Districts tournament in Palmerston North over Labour weekend. They are scheduled to play Manawatu and Hawke's Bay in two one-day fixtures. There is a possibility that two current New Zealand players will be "imported" into the Wairarapa line-upfor this particular tourney. Captain Maia Lewis has played for Wairarapa over the past two years and could be back for a third time and there is also a chance that Kate Pulford will come on board this year. If so it will provide a unique opportunity for the young Wairarapa side to rub shoulders with and learn from top international players. The Labour weekend tournament will also play a big part in the naming of the Central Districts senior and development squad women's teams for 2004-05. Last season saw Wairarapa's Elizabeth Perry in the senior line-up and she and Laura Pascall both played for the development squad which won their national tourney in Christchurch. The Wairarapa XI will be chosen from a squad named to attend a training session at the Masterton indoor centre at 9am this Saturday and players to attend are: Wendy Hull, Morgan Terry, Tammy Eckersley, Rachel Mawson, Anna Mahi, April Wilton, Amanda O'Reilly, Sarah Goddard (Wairarapa College); Charlotte Capes (Tararua); Nicole Bouton, Elizabeth Perry, Many Wilson, Judy-Ann Butler, Adrienne Bain (Lansdowne); Pip Lynch, Courtney Liggins, Taasha Henson, Sophie Ross, Haley Ross (St Matthew's). Any players unavailable should advise Grant Perry (phone 3782376) or Doug Bracewell (3709157).
