Crews battle blaze in Stanmore Bay

Fire crews battled a "well involved" house fire in Stanmore Bay on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, north of Auckland today.

Numerous reports of the blaze were received by the fire service about 8.55am.

Upon arrival, two fire crews found the house well ablaze, a fire service spokesman said earlier.

"Two [Silverdale] crews are in attendance, fighting the fire."

Two further crews from East Coast Bays and Albany had been called in to give help containing the fire, he said.

No one had been reported inside the house.
