Traffic is heavy on every Auckland motorway, with multiple breakdowns and crashes across the city adding to the congestion over the afternoon.
Just before 4pm four cars were involved in a minor crash on the Northwestern Motorway, near Great North Rd. A second crash was partly blocking the right-hand lane
westbound after Great North Rd on the Southwestern Motorway.
The NZTA warned motorists to pass with car and expect delays.
Several breakdowns were reported over the afternoon, including a bus that broke down heading north after Greenlane. It was cleared just after 4pm but NZTA warned to expect delays.
A breakdown on Auckland's Harbour Bridge around 4.45pm added to commuters' woes, although the car has now been freed and traffic is flowing again, the NZTA said.
