Traffic is heavy on every Auckland motorway, with multiple breakdowns and crashes across the city adding to the congestion over the afternoon.
Just before 4pm four cars were involved in a minor crash on the Northwestern Motorway, near Great North Rd. A second crash was partly blocking the right-hand lanewestbound after Great North Rd on the Southwestern Motorway.
The NZTA warned motorists to pass with car and expect delays.
Several breakdowns were reported over the afternoon, including a bus that broke down heading north after Greenlane. It was cleared just after 4pm but NZTA warned to expect delays.

A breakdown on Auckland's Harbour Bridge around 4.45pm added to commuters' woes, although the car has now been freed and traffic is flowing again, the NZTA said.
Local roads have also had their share of crashes. A pedestrian was hit by a car on Parnell Rd just before 3.20pm. They were taken to hospital with minor injuries, police said.
A cyclist was also hit by a car in Glenfield on the North Shore just before 5pm. The person received minor injuries in the crash at the corner of Glenfield Rd and Sunset Rd and is being assessed by ambulance officers, police said.
