Crash sends car on to pavement

The impact of a collision between two cars on the corner of Queen and Shortland streets sent one of the vehicles off the road and on to a pavement yesterday afternoon.

The Hyundai narrowly missed a tree but knocked over a sign before it stopped.

Its driver was taken into a nearby store where she waited for medical attention, and was later taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Bystanders took photographs and videos of the crash on their mobile phones while police and firefighters cleared the scene.
