Crash on road used as State Highway 1 diversion

A car and truck collided on State Highway 1 this morning.

The crash happened on SH1 near Seddon in Marlborough, shortly after 9.30am.

Ambulance staff treated two of the car's occupants.

A helicopter flew to the scene from Nelson.

Diversions were in place and motorists faced delays.

This afternoon, one lane reopened.

But there was more trouble in store for motorists, as a single-vehicle crash happened on the road that was being used as a diversion.

Police said the second crash happened on the Redwood Pass road.

A helicopter was flying to the scene from Nelson.

St John said two people were seriously injured in the Seddon crash.One was flown to Wellington Hospital. The other was taken by road to Blenheim's Wairau Hospital.
