Crash near Invercargill beach - one person airlifted to hospital in critical condition

One person has been airlifted to hospital in critical condition after a single-vehicle crash near Invercargill’s Oreti Beach.

Police responded to reports of the incident on Dunns Rd about 11.40am.

“One person has been seriously injured,” said a police spokesperson.

The road near Sandy Pt Rd was closed for a time.

Hato Hone St John told the Herald they were notified of the crash at 11.34am and responded with an operations manager, helicopter and ambulance.

“One patient in critical condition was airlifted to Dunedin Hospital,” a spokesperson said.
