Crash at Mt Maunganui speedway

Emergency services have rushed to a Bay of Plenty speedway after a crash this evening.

A Fire Service spokesman said the crash occurred at the Baypark Family speedway in Mount Maunganui about 8.30pm.

One person had to be freed from a vehicle and was left in the care of paramedics.

Their condition was not known at this stage.

According to the speedway's website, today's events include the North Island super saloon car championships and a demolition derby.
