There have been a total of 37,000 reports of breaches, Police Commissioner Andrew Coster said. Eight police staff had been spat at - which potentially constituted a charge of infecting with disease, carries a maximum penalty of 14 years imprisonment.
Police have made another three arrests for breaches of the lockdown, as the number of people flouting the rules increase.

Another manwas arrested yesterday morning in Stenhope Crescent after he was caught driving around Dunedin without purpose.
He said a 44-year-old man, of no fixed abode, was arrested after numerous warnings about breaking the lockdown rules.
