The guard was assaulted and the alleged offenders took off in a stolen car with a large amount of cash.
Information from members of the public - along with patrols and the Eagle helicopter - led to the vehicle being found in nearby Mt Albert.
Police found the accused men close to the car and said they had large amounts of cash on them.
The men were arrested as a result.
Police believed all the money was recovered.
Detective Senior Sergeant Geoff Baber said the arrests were an example of what could be achieved when the public helped police.
