Court appearance for Maraetai murder accused put off

The man accused of stabbing to death Faletoi Kei in a South Auckland park will not appear in Manukau District Court today as scheduled.

The 29-year-old unemployed man from Hamilton was to make his first appearance today on one charge of murder.

Mr Kei, 41, died in the arms of his wife, Seluia, minutes after he was stabbed in the stomach at a family picnic at Omana Regional Park at Maraetai, southeast of Auckland, on April 14.

Court staff said the hearing had been put off until a date yet to be determined.
