Couple face murder charge over toddler's death

A man and a woman, initially charged with assaulting a three-year-old boy who later died in hospital, have now been charged with his murder.

The 32-year-old woman and the 27-year-old man, from Otara, south Auckland, were due to reappear in Manukau District Court today.

The boy died after being rushed to Auckland's Starship Hospital with life-threatening injuries on February 1.


The couple were both granted interim name suppression when they appeared in Manukau District Court today. They were remanded in custody until March 1.
