A man and a woman, believed to have been in a car which reversed into a police car so hard it drove up the bonnet last week, have been arrested.
Police said last week that two officers were fortunate to escape unharmed after the April 2 ramming incident in theWaikato town of Kihikihi, near Te Awamutu.
The officers had pulled over the vehicle and were checking details of the occupants when the car reversed into the patrol car. The car fled and was chased by police, before it stopped at an intersection and again reversed up the bonnet of the car.
Detective Sergeant Ross Patterson of the Te Awamutu CIB said investigators, assisted by members of the Waikato Armed Offenders Squad, went to a Hazelmere Crescent address in Te Awamutu early this morning.
Mr Patterson said a 41-year-old gang member and his 31-year-old female partner, who both already had outstanding warrants for their arrest, were found at the property.
"In addition a 24-year-old man wanted in relation to burglary and receiving stolen property offences was also found at the address as was a 48-year-old man who faces a drug dealing charge."
Mr Patterson said all four offenders will appear in the Hamilton District Court today with the 41-year-old male facing additional charges in relation to the ramming incident.
