Three job vacancies have opened at South Wairarapa District Council.
Three jobs are on offer at South Wairarapa District Council, two being newly created positions and the other a replacement for a council officer leaving for personal reasons.
Chief executive Paul Crimp said yesterday three inquiries regarding a policy and reporting manager's position had already been received, although the jobhas only just been advertised.
The job had arisen largely because Mr Crimp, who was promoted to chief executive a little over a year ago, had not filled a gap in the corporate services role he previously handled.
Long-term plan work was looming and that was an added impetus for seeking a policy and reporting manager, he said.
The manager will report directly to Mr Crimp and will be responsible not only for long-term and annual plan work but also the development and maintenance of policies and procedures, and legislation requirements.
Also being sought is a roading engineer to replace a staff member who is leaving.
The appointee will work under the auspices of infrastructure and services manager Mark Allingham and will play a part in looking after South Wairarapa's challenging roading network, including its coastal routes.
Council is also seeking a part-time by-law officer to assist the full-time officer.
Mr Crimp said this newly created position was needed to cater for coastal ranging work in the summer months along with policing the district or fire hazards like long grass, keeping a watch on overhanging tree problems and helping out with dog and stock control. The successful applicant would work a minimum of 15 hours a week and up to 30 hours.
All positions could be met within existing council budgets, and applications for all three jobs close on September 26.
