Cordons are in place in Papanui, Christchurch, after police received reports of a suspicious item located near the Police Station.

A Police spokeswoman said cordons are in place while police determine what the item is.

The station is located near Northlands Shopping Centre, on Main North Rd.

Nearby bar and restaurant Rose and Thistle has also put itself into lockdown because of the police activity.
