Cop's nose broken in assault

A police officer is nursing a broken nose after an attack in Wanganui early today.

While arresting a man who had been fighting, the officer was punched in the face by another man.

He was treated at Whanganui Base Hospital for a broken nose and concussion and later released.

A man had been arrested and would appear in Wanganui District Court tomorrow facing a charge of aggravated assault, Sergeant Colin Wright said.
