"Counties Manukau police can confirm that an off-duty constable has been charged today with injuring with intent to injure," the spokeswoman said.
It's believed an altercation broke out at an after-party at a central Auckland bar on September 7 with a male model from Australia. De Moor was charged about 10 days later.
Because the assault happened in the city, officers from another police district investigated the complaint.
Police could not comment further as the case was before the courts.
De Moor told a community newspaper in 2008 he enjoyed working as a community constable after working on the front line.
"Front line was purely reactive policing, like chasing fires. Now as a community constable, we're into building relationships with the public and working with groups to problem solve," he said.
