Construction shake-up

A big law shake-up aimed at improving new housing quality will be announced today by Building and Construction Minister Maurice Williamson.

Faster consents, fewer leaky buildings and more confidence in the sector are some of the main aims.

The Government hopes to pass amendments to the Building Act 2004 by the middle of this year to improve the multibillion-dollar sector.
