Concerns person stuck in West Coast building on fire

Firefighters are trying to confirm if anybody was stuck inside a building on fire on the West Coast this morning.

The fire broke out on a property south of Fox Glacier this morning.

A Fire Service southern communications spokesman said the fire at a building, probably a shed, was "well-involved" when firefighters arrived just before 7am.

Firefighters were initially told a person might be inside the building.

"At the moment the brigade is still trying to verify those claims."

The fire was on a remote property beside a dirt road roughly 1km from State Highway 6.
