Marist Old Boys Cricket Club is returning to the Wairarapa senior men's cricket competition for the 2012-13 season.
The Wairarapa Cricket Association has accepted Marist's application to field a team in the premier grade after the club's success last season when they won the Times-Age Cup after going through thefirst round of open grade competition undefeated and also the Chairman's Cup for second round winners, defeating Greytown in the grand final held at the park oval.
Marist Old Boy's senior team will compete in all competition formats, including the Umpire's Cup, Bidwell Cup and the T20 series.
The club have previously played in the senior competition and is excited by their return to that level, says club captain Marcus Howie.
"We are convinced that our inclusion is a big positive for the competition," he says.
"Importantly, it's going to give our guys an opportunity to test themselves and develop as cricketers, while also providing, hopefully, a bitof welcome variety to the already established sides in the senior competition."
Marist will again be entering a side in the open grade competition this season and aim to mirror their accomplishments of last season there.
They are encouraging prospective players to attend club trainings on Thursday nights from 6pm onwards at the Marist nets located at Memorial Park.
