Save The sun was shining as contractors in their high-vis jackets, hard hats and boots worked their way around Kaiaua today.
Yesterday was a completely different scene, as storm surges and strong winds damaged the coastal town.
Residents on East Coast Rd were badly affected with saltwater and debris flowing into
properties.
Despite all the damage, most were in high spirits.
David Leigh has been associated with Kaiaua since the 1960s - his father was a schoolteacher there.
