A man accused of murdering his partner, after her body was found 14 months after she went missing, has been granted bail.

Yun Qing "Jack" Liu, 57, was charged with the murder of 44-year-old accountant Cissy Chen after her remains were found in March.

Liu's lawyer Michael Kan made a bail application in the High Court at Auckland today after two previous unsuccessful attempts in May and June.

Justice Pamela Andrews granted the Torbay resident bail but only on strict conditions.

Liu will be released from Mt Eden prison next week and will have to remain at his bail address 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The defendant will also have to wear an anklet which sends out an electronic signal, allowing Corrections and the police to monitor his movements.

Liu was originally scheduled to stand trial in October, but Mr Kan successfully applied to have that date pushed back to give him further preparation time.

Justice Andrews confirmed today the trial will now take place in February.

Ms Chen was last seen alive on November 5, 2012, after leaving the accountancy firm she worked at and driving home to the North Shore.

Police found her body in late March after a contractor mowing the lawns at Totaravale Reserve discovered a ribcage and a skull in a drain.

Most of the rest of Ms Chen's remains were found nearby, and Liu was arrested and charged with murder in early April.

Liu will next appear in court for an administrative hearing next month.

His trial is scheduled to last at least four weeks.
