Three-vehicle crash in Waikuku, north of Christchurch kills one person

One person has died following an overnight crash in Waikuku, north of Christchurch.

Emergency services were called to the three-vehicle crash on Main North Rd, near Tulls Rd, around 9.05pm.

“Despite best efforts from emergency services, one person died at the scene,” said a police spokesperson.

The road was closed while the Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination.

Main North Rd has since reopened.
