Six tonnes of fertiliser spilled on Timaru road prompts late‑night cleanup

A late-night cleanup has taken place after six tonnes of fertiliser spilled across a Timaru street.

Emergency services responded at 10.15pm after the fertiliser came off a trailer and spilled along Evans St.

The mess covered the northbound lane between Luxmoore St and Grants Rd.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said crews were ensuring the fertiliser didn’t reach any waterways.

Police confirmed the fertiliser had been cleared by 12.30am by the Timaru District Council.
