Serious motorcycle and car crash closes West Coast Rd at Arthur’s Pass

State Highway 73 at Arthur’s Pass is blocked after a serious crash.

Police were notified of the crash involving a motorcycle and a car at about 1pm, east of the Cora Lynn Rd intersection.

“Initial indicators are that there has been serious injuries.”

Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible and expect delays.

“The road is expected to remain closed for some time while emergency services work at the scene.”

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) says motorists in the area should use an alternative route.

The Serious Crash Unit has been notified.
