Police are investigating after a woman was found with serious injuries in central Christchurch last night.
Christchurch Metro CIB Detective Sergeant Ben Rolton said officers were called to Worcester St, between Latimer Square and Barbadoes St, around 10pm following reports a person had sustained wounds consistent with being stabbed.
Thewoman was taken to Christchurch Hospital by ambulance and underwent surgery.
A scene guard remained in place overnight, with a full scene examination continuing today.
Police are making enquiries into the circumstances of the incident and are working to identify those responsible.
