Christchurch ‘item of concern’ discovery leads to bomb squad callout

Save The Army’s bomb squad has been called to a leafy Christchurch suburb after an “item of concern” was found this morning.
St Barnabas St in upmarket Fendalton was cordoned off earlier today after the discovery.
Police were called to the address about 8.45am.
“There was not believed to
be any immediate threat or danger, the NZDF EOD [explosive ordnance disposal] team was notified and attended,” police said.
