The government has imposed a three month ban on set-net fishing across the Otago peninsula, Newstalk ZB South Island news director, Claire Sherwood reports.

A child was hit by a truck in Christchurch this morning during the school rush.

Emergency services responded to the collision at Sparks Rd and Halswell Rd around 8.18am.

Hato Hone St John attended and sent one ambulance, one manager and one rapid response vehicle.

Fire and Emergency crew responded to assist with scene safety.
