Christchurch school fires suspicious - police

A spate of fires at Christchurch schools is being treated as suspiscious and has sparked a police investigation.

Shortly after midnight fire services were called to Aranui High School where the dental clinic was burnt down, Southern Fire Communications shift manager Karl Patterson said.

Then at 2.15am a skip at Avondale School, on Breezes Road, was found on fire.

A vegetation fire at Kidsfirst Kindergarten on Breezes Road was then called in to fire services at 4.30am, Mr Patterson said.

All fires were being treated as suspiscious.

Police and fire safety officers were currently at Aranui High School investigating.
