Tomorrow we recognise the one year anniversary of the Christchurch earthquake, and remember those who lost their lives.
People will be gathering at a range of ceremonies in Christchurch and elsewhere across the country to recognise the day.
Please tell us about events in your area.
The following events have been organised across the country:
Christchurch
- Service for families of those lost and first responders. Latimer Square, 8am-8.45am, Public are also welcome to attend.
- Civic Memorial Service, North Hagley Park, 12pm-1.30pm. Includes a musical accompaniment from Christchurch school children, the reading of the names of the 185 victims, and two minutes' silence at 12.51pm.
- Christchurch Earthquake Awards, North Hagley Park, 2pm-4pm. Public event to recognise earthquake heroes.
- River of Flowers, Avon River, 8am-8pm. Public invited to cast flowers into the river at designated sites. Visit here for more information
- Festival of Flowers Commemorative Event, Christchurch Botanic Gardens, 10am-11.45am. Unveiling of Golden Angel/Spirit sculpture and ringing of Peace Bell by Japanese students who lost friends in the CTV building.
- Memorial Day Happenings, Wainoni/Avonside Community Services Trust, 12.45pm. Lighting of candles and two minutes' silence, among other things.
- Community Picnic at Branston Intermediate, 4.30pm-7.30pm. Free BBQ and ice cream and games for the kids. The Crusaders will be there to help man the BBQ.
- Mass and memorial by the Filipino Community of Christchurch, Sacred Heart Parish Church in Addington, 5pm-8pm.
- A Memorial Reflection in North East Christchurch, Queenspark Reserve, 5-7pm. Stations will be sited around the park for people to reflect on the past year.
- ARISE Church special service, The Aurora Centre, 5pm.
- Reflection of Loss of Lives, Livelihoods and Living in Neighbourhood, Oxford Terrace Baptist Church, 7pm. Includes an installation of white chairs representing the victims who died in the tragedy.
- Trinity Avonside Memorial Service, 7pm. A brief service and candle lighting, followed by a normal Ash Wednesday service.
- Remembrance & Ash Wednesday Service, Spreydon Baptist Church Auditorium, 7.30pm.
Auckland
- Auckland War Memorial Museum, 12pm-2pm. Reading from The Broken Book by Christchurch author Fiona Farrell, comments from museum director Roy Clare, two minutes' silence at 12.51pm and a screening of When A City Falls documentary at 1pm.
- Aotea Square, 12.51pm, two minutes' silence will be held, with the Auckland Town Hall clock bell rung at the start and finish.
- Holy Trinity Cathedral, 12.30pm-1pm, service of remembrance for people of Christchurch and Canterbury
Waimakariri
- Two minutes' silence will be held at the district council's Rangiora and Oxford service centres, and Kaiapoi's Darnley Square at 12.51pm.
- The Civic Memorial Service will also be screened from 12pm-1.30pm at the Kaiapoi Baptist Church, the Kaiapoi Club and the Oxford Workingman's Club.
Selwyn
- Two minutes' silence outside Selwyn District Council chambers in Rolleston at 12.51pm
- Lincoln University members and wider community can join others in the Young Farmers' Club Hall on campus from 12.45pm.
- Rolleston Community Picnic, Rolleston Domain, 5pm-7pm. There will be a short time of reflection as well as musical items and children's games
Wanganui
- Memorial Service at Majestic Square, 5pm. Readings from monsignor David Bell and Kimberley Hunt, a minute's silence at 12.51pm, and the releasing of 185 red and black balloons as a tribute to those that died.
Wellington
- Wellington Cathedral, 12.30pm, Anglican and Catholic vigils.
