A motorcyclist has died in a crash involving a truck in Christchurch this afternoon.

A motorcyclist has died in a crash involving a truck in Christchurch this afternoon.

Police were called to Buchanans Rd in Hei Hei at 1.40pm.

“Sadly, one person died at the scene,” police said.

Photographs at the scene confirmed the motorcyclist was killed in the crash, with the bike stuck under the middle of the truck.

Buchanans Rd was closed between both Vanguard Rd intersections and the intersection with Hei Hei Rd.

Police advised motorists to take an alternative route and expect delays.

The serious crash unit is investigating.
