A security breach at Christchurch airport is causing delays for domestic passengers.

The airport says passengers in the domestic departure area had to be evacuated and re-screened as a result of the unspecified breach

Three flights were delayed at the height of the incident which took place around 8pm.

The airport's data shows one Air New Zealand flight has been cancelled and a Jetstar flight is delayed.

The airport says no-one was at risk as a result of the breach.
