“We reached out to the dairy owners earlier this week and let them know that we are having a particular focus on this offending over the next period,” he said.
He said police are working to identify other parties involved in this and other recent youth offending.
“Police’s operation announced earlier today will enhance our capabilities and resources as we work to tackle this recent increase in offending,” Hill said.
He said anyone who has information that might help police inquiries is urged to call 105, referencing Operation Anchor.
Serious Christchurch offending on the rise
Hill said police numbers suggest the number of incidents in Christchurch has been reasonably static, but the seriousness of the offending has increased in the last few weeks.
He said that “concerns us a lot”.
“If you’re out there and you’re taking part in this type of offending, then expect to see the full force of our policing coming towards you,” he told NZME.
