A recent cold snap shows no signs of abating as parts of New Zealand wake up to a frosty morning after a chilly night.
Parts of the country slipped into the negatives last night, the coldest being Dunedin Airport, which dropped to -4.6C.
Other cold spots included Queenstown on -2C, Invercargill on -1.5C and Ranfurly, which fell to -3.7C.
MetService meteorologist Josh Griffin said temperatures will be similar tonight.
Auckland was at 8.5C overnight and Hamilton dropped to 2.8C.
Rotorua hit 5C, Wellington was a bit warmer on 7C and Christchurch dropped to 4C.
Meanwhile fog is lingering at Christchurch and Dunedin airports this morning.
Fog caused flights to be cancelled coming into Dunedin yesterday and it has stuck around this morning.
Griffin said the fog should clear in both spots by 11am.
Scattered showers in eastern areas of Northland and Coromandel will clear by this evening.
Auckland to Kapiti, including Bay of Plenty and the central high country will be mainly fine with areas of frost or fog.
Gisborne and Hawke's Bay will have long fine spells and a few showers near the coast.
Wellington, Wairarapa, Nelson and Marlborough will have areas of morning cloud and isolated showers before becoming fine.
Canterbury will have spots of cloud and morning fog and will be otherwise fine.
Buller, Westland and Fiordland will have scattered showers.
Otago and Southland will be fine but with areas of fog or low cloud morning and night.
