Child dies after being pulled unresponsive from body of water in Lower Hutt

A child has died following a water-related incident in Lower Hutt this evening.

Emergency services responded to Avalon Park about 8.10pm after the child was retrieved unresponsive from a body of water.

“CPR was undertaken but sadly, the child could not be resuscitated,” a police spokesperson said.

Police said the death would be referred to the coroner.
