A child has died on Christmas Day after being struck by a vehicle in a Masterton driveway.
The fatal crash occurred on Atkinson St, Masterton, and was reported after 3.10pm, police said.
Police are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokeswoman Belinda Beets saidtwo “appliances” were sent before 4.15pm to assist with the ambulance response, but could not comment further.
A witness told the Herald thatemergency services attended the scene, including Wellington Free Ambulance and a Westpac Rescue Helicopter, which didn’t land and left without a patient.
The witness described fire services manning a cordon at the scene.
Wellington Free Ambulance referred inquiries to the police.
