A child was been transported to Starship Hospital in a critical condition this afternoon following a collision with a car in Henderson, West Auckland.
The incident took place on Hindmarsh St, a police spokesman said, who confirmed the child has been transported to Starship Hospital.
"It occurred at around 3.15pm near the intersection with Bruce McLaren Rd," he said.
"Part of Hindmarsh St is currently closed while inquiries continue at the scene. The Serious Crash Unit are examining the scene."
A St John spokeswoman told the Herald one ambulance and a rapid response vehicle were sent to the scene at 3.11pm.
She said one patient was treated by staff in a critical condition.
Hindmarsh St had been temporarily closed following the incident but has since reopened to the public.
Down the road at Railside Ave, a two-car crash resulted in one person being transported to Waitakere Hospital in a moderate condition.
Police said the incident took place just after 4pm and the vehicles involved in the collision have since been removed and the road cleared.
Both crashes resulted in delays through the Henderson area, with Auckland Transport advising motorists to avoid the area if possible.
Elsewhere, southbound lanes on Hugh Green Drive are blocking following a crash near the intersection with Greville Rd.
AT said on Twitter the incident took place around 5.10pm and motorists are advised to follow the directions of emergency services on the scene.
