A trailer being towed by a ute flipped on a Canterbury motorway this afternoon, spilling chemicals onto the road, and slowing traffic.
The trailer turned over on Christchurch's northern motorway past Belfast just after 1.20pm.
There were no injuries, a spokesman for the police southern communications centre said.
The substance
made the road slippery and it was reduced to one lane.
Firefighters soon arrived to wash away the non-hazardous substance.
