Che Fu picked up yet another music award tonight, receiving the APRA Silver Scroll for song of the year.
He won the gong for the track Misty Frequencies with co-writer/keyboardist Godfrey de Grut.
In the celebrity-stacked ceremony at the Civic, APRA director Mike Chunn noted Che Fu
had previously been a four-time nominee for the award, an indication of his extraordinary writing talent.
The night also saw musicians other than those who originally performed the five nominated songs play their own versions of them, an indication of the strength of the source material.
There were also audio-visual presentations and two other artists were acknowledged: Anika Moa for the most performed work (for Youthful) and the SOUNZ contemporary music award to classical composer John Psathas for his concerto for percussion, piano and orchestra View From Olympus, a segment of which was performed.
Earlier this year, Che Fu won five New Zealand Music Awards including album, single and video of the year.
