GETTING READY: Carl Christensen, caterer and club member of Masterton Golf Club, was one of many volunteers out helping the greenkeeper clean up the course following the last few days' weather so it is in tip top shape for next weekend's Sir Bob Charles Classic golf tournament.
Kiwi golfing legend Sir Bob Charles will return home to the Wairarapa this month to play in the Sir Bob Charles Tournament at the Masterton Golf Club.
Charles, a winner of more than 60 international titles and the first left-hand golfer to win the British Open in 1963, will play
in the two-day, 36 hole tournament being held on October 26 and 27. The Sir Bob Charles tournament is open to all golfers - left and right handed, men, women and veterans. The tournament starts with 18 holes on Saturday October 26, followed by a special dinner with Sir Bob Charles and Lady Verity, and finishes with final 18 holes on the Sunday October 27.
Places are limited so interested players are encouraged to register early through www.mastertongolfclub.co.nz. Registrations close October 21. Entry fee for the golf is $50 per player which includes two rounds of golf, and prizes. The dinner is $50 per person and includes a delicious three course meal. Spectators are also welcome.
