A proposal to build a multi-purpose sports complex in Carterton's Howard Booth Park has been given the thumbs up by the ANZ Bank.
Banking staff Rose Stevens and Carol Rowntree, from the Masterton branch, are putting their sporting energies behind the project, which aims to promote sport in the communitythrough a central facility, by hosting a charity golf day at Carterton Golf Club on Friday, March 22.
Proceeds will go to the Howard Booth Park Sports Trust to help progress the initial concept and test its viability.
Golf-day co-ordinator Rose Stevens said ANZ was really excited about the project.
"It's all about investing in our communities and promoting healthy, active lifestyles. This ties in with ANZ's own commitment to support local community-based initiatives.
"While the sports complex concept is still in the very early stages, we recognise that this is usually when a cash injection is needed to help determine what's possible and feasible.
"We thought an easy-level, team tournament would inspire local businesses and organisations to have some fun, take the opportunity to do a bit of team-building and support this worthwhile cause," Stevens said.
