Five lucky Auckland girls are about to win the opportunity of a lifetime - six weeks in Ongaonga.
They will be the stars of reality television show City Girls, to be filmed by two Auckland production companies using the backdrop of the Central Hawkes Bay township, 70km southwest of Napier.
A crew
from Showdown Productions, in association with Screentime Communicado, will track the girls' progress.
Filming is to start at the end of next month. Footage would be turned into six half-hour episodes to be screened on a prime time TV2 slot early next year, Screentime spokeswoman Emma Slade said.
Candidates were being auditioned. Though they would have missed lambing when filming began, it was likely they would work in the docking pen.
Ms Slade said it would be interesting to see how they fitted into the community socially and coped with a sudden change of lifestyle.
"A lot of New Zealanders don't understand what farming is about. This is a good opportunity to showcase farming in a beautiful part of New Zealand," she said.
