Chainsaw attack accused remanded in custody

A Dunedin man who allegedly attacked two police officers with a chainsaw has been remanded in custody until Friday.

In Dunedin District Court yesterday, Peter Carr, 40, faced two charges of assault with a weapon, wilful damage and escaping from custody. He entered no plea.

Police say Carr attacked the officers with the chainsaw on Saturday when they tried to arrest him for breaching bail conditions.
