Centre title No 37 for Mastertons Monaghan

It was centre title number 37 for Masterton's Ian Monaghan when he won Bowls Wairarapa's open men's singles title at the Masterton greens on Saturday.
Monaghan played clubmate Warren Fisher in the final and ran out a comprehensive 21-9 winner.
Earlier, quarter-final games had seen Les O'Donovan (Featherston) beat Mark Noble (Johnsonville) 21-11, Monaghan beat P.Ramsay (Johnsonville) 21-15, Fisher beat Mike Bowden (Lansdowne) 21-16 and John Mahupuku (Park) beat N.Reid (Woburn ) 21-10.
In the semi-finals Monaghan edged out Mahupuku 21-19 in a match which could have gone either way and Fisher scored a surprisingly comfortable 21-9 victory over O'Donovan.
The plate final resulted in a 21-19 win for Mark Morete (Masterton) over Gary Potter (Hutt).
