CCTV captures station robbery

Police are appealing to the public for help after the armed robbery of a Porirua petrol station was caught on CCTV.

The man went to the Cannons Creek Mobil around 7.25pm on Sunday claiming he had a knife and wanted money.

The station's CCTV footage showed him leaving the station towards Berkshire St with a small amount of cash and some cigarettes in two Mobil branded shopping bags.

No-one was injured during the incident.

Police say the man is approximately 20 years old, of Maori or Polynesian appearance, of medium build and with short black hair.

He was wearing a bright blue baggy tee shirt with white writing on the front, police say.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the male's identity is urged to call police.
