Carterton district councillors will decide on amendments to time-limit parking in the town at the next monthly council meeting.
Planning and regulatory manager Milan Hautler had withdrawn a report to the council on amending the bylaw and fines regime, in the wake of a request from the Carterton District BusinessIncorporated group.
The group took up the cause of several workers and business owners who protested about time limits on parking in Belvedere Rd and sought the extension of limits from 60 to 90 minutes in line with parking in the nearby main street.
Mr Hautler said he had withdrawn his report, which was tabled at yesterday's council meeting, to allow "some amendments to the bylaw".
He would re-submit his report to the next monthly council meeting, Mr Hautler said.
The Times-Age on Tuesday outlined an email sent to the council by Al O'Connor, a Victoria University masters student and legal researcher, who said the time-limit bylaw in Carterton was "fatally flawed".
He said the bylaw was legally deficient and lacked proper statutory references - as was the case with a similar bylaw enacted by the Hutt City Council that he had brought to the attention of its chief executive.
