Car smashes into Gull petrol station in Mt Maunganui

A worker told the Herald it appeared it was a pure accident.

A car has crashed into a petrol station in Mt Maunganui this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the Gull station on Hewletts Road in Mt Maunganui, Tauranga, just before 2pm.

A worker told the Herald it appeared it was a pure accident. "My heart goes out to them,'' she said.

The driver and passenger were assessed by St John paramedics.

The worker said no one - including their own staff and customers who were inside the shop at the time - was hurt.

Emergency services were called to the Gull station on Hewletts Road.
